A 21-year-old man says he was sexually assaulted by another man in a restroom at a popular gay-owned restaurant in Southwest Atlanta on Sunday.

The man was preparing to start his shift at No Mas Cantina in Castleberry Hill when he was apparently raped about 2 p.m., according to Atlanta police and WSB. The male assailant entered the bathroom, yanked off the victim's pants and sexually assaulted him, the man's father told WSB.

“He went to use the restroom to get ready to start his shift. That’s when he says he heard the bathroom door open,” the father said.

The assault allegedly took place inside of a bathroom at the restaurant.

“The next thing you know the guy kicked the door stall on him and snatched his pants,” he said.

The man told police that his assailant was possibly a driver for Uber Eats, though an Atlanta police spokesperson said that has not been confirmed. The victim was treated by paramedics after the attack, according to a police incident report.

The victim's father told WSB that his son has not returned to work at No Mas since the incident. The man has autism and is mentally disabled, his father said.

“It's not fair for a kid with a disability to be taken advantage of like that,” the father said.

The man said his son's manager didn't call police and he only learned of the incident when his son called him crying.

No Mas disputed that in a statement from co-owner Walt Bilinski provided to WSB.

“We are an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. We take the safety of all our employees very seriously. As soon as this incident was reported, we notified the appropriate authorities and are cooperating fully with any investigations.”

The incident is still under investigation, police told Project Q Atlanta, and few details about what happened have been publicly released.
