WNBA: Dream stares at record, Parker dunk-less

The Atlanta Dream is winless and Candace Parker (photo) went dunk-less on Thursday.

The Dream start a tough weekend tonight when they face the Connecticutt Sun, one of the best teams in the league. With a loss tonight, the Dream would fall to 0-14 and own the record for the WNBA’s worst start ever by an expansion franchise.

Guard Ivory Latta is ever hopeful, that pro athlete that just won’t give up. You gotta laugh at exuberance or admire her toughness.

“We still have time to get a lot of wins,” Latta said. “A lot of teams, they’re going to sleep on us, without a doubt. Eventually, we’re going to sneak up on a couple of teams and surprise them. Definitely.”

It doesn’t get any easier on Sunday, when they face the Detroit Shock. They’ve dumped them twice this season. But the Dream starts a three-game home stand on Tuesday, when fans are hoping for a big turnout for the nationally-televised game.

Parker, the rookie sensation, hit the court on Thursday with fans wondering if she would dunk in her third-consecutive WNBA game. She didn’t and at least some folks are OK with that.
