Wilson Cruz belts out ‘Love’ at Burkhart’s

Actor Wilson Cruz, whose abs have been on parade in gay Atlanta, did a little throwback of his own on Sunday with the Armorettes, belting out the tear-jerker “Seasons of Love” and taking fans back to his Broadway run with “Rent.”

The impromptu number came at the end of the second night of auditions for the Armorettes, the long-running camp drag troupe that raises cash for HIV non-profits. Wilson wasn't auditioning; he's in Atlanta for his new gig as Nurse Kenji with Fox's “Red Band Society.” But Cruz as Angel in a Santa suit, just like he did in 1998 on Broadway, would be a fun addition to the Armorettes lineup.

On Sunday at Burkhart's, Cruz joined the cast during “Seasons of Love,” the traditional close to their shows. He sang it while Trashetta Galore faked it.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

He was caught gaying up Piedmont Park over the weekend too. during his stop at the show, Cruz posed for pics. This one with Tony Kearney, a Pride parade grand marshal whose Wild Cherry Sucret was a staple at the Armorettes. Before she died. Then rose from the dead. Then judged.

And that Santa suit? Go way back to 1998 as Cruz sang “Today 4 U” on Broadway.
