Atlanta’s gay country bar 3 Legged Cowboy could live to ride another day after it shuts its doors on Saturday, according to an optimistic statement from its owners.

On Monday afternoon, the bar posted a “Letter to Our Community & Patrons of 3 Legged Cowboy from Deana & Shelia” to its Facebook page, coming a day after a terse statement announcing the bar would close on Saturday.

But Monday’s statement didn’t provide any details on why the Midtown bar is closing.

I am so sorry to be telling you will be closing as of May 1, 2011. And we want to thank you for all your support and help over the years. We tried up to the end to keep our bar.

As you know, we came back to give you a full time country bar, which I felt we needed at the time for our people. A place to call home and have good, clean fun, to bring your families, parents. I will miss you all. And yes, I hold you in my heart, each and everyone of you.

We are looking into another place to move into.

Never fear as you know “You can’t keep a Good Hoe-Down”. I wrote it and believe it!! So until we meet again, my thoughts and prayers go to each and everyone of you.

God Bless,
Deana, Shelia, & the staff of the 3 Legged Cowboy.

Stay tuned for updates on the next opening.

The bar also created a Facebook invitation called Final Week of Dancing. The invite asks supporters to “come dance your hearts out for our last week.”
