Why we love Atlanta’s new gay weather daddy Sam Champion

Teamwork is nothing new for weather guru Sam Champion, who welcomes his husband to Atlanta just as the Weather Channel welcomes him to its team. Cue Twitterverse and the Vine yard.

In the last year since the former “Good Morning America” weather man announced his engagement to photographer and artist Rubem Robierb (top photo), their whole lives continue to play out on social media. That includes a New York wedding, Speedo-clad honeymoon in Rio, and subsequent relocation to Atlanta.

From our front row seats, we welcome the GLAAD darlings with open arms and look forward to seeing them at those local events. Or better yet, this one. They have the bodies for it. Our longtime companion Don Lemon never gave up that much.

So far, we like what we see of the couple under signature hashtag #ItsAmazingOutThere. From roleplay to stripping down to an obsession with selfies, we dive into our favorite reasons that we just can’t get enough of this 52-year-old weather daddy and his 37-year-old hubby.

Sloppy kisses.

On Monday, Champion received a bundled up Robierb via Twitter to Atlanta and apologized for the wet weather. And we thought his Brazilian hottie liked it sloppy, or maybe that was just in our heads.

Which wasn’t awkward like interviewing him on ‘GMA.’

Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Sorry Robin and Josh; he’s outa there. Was it another episode of ABC you later drama where anchors keep jumping ship for cable? Well, Jake Tapper, Chris Cuomo and “Nightline” correspondent Bill Weir are gone, but they’re not gay. So we don’t care.

But he had some excellent adventures on ‘GMA.’

Like shooting selfies at the gym. For Robin. And her recovery.

K, bye! Welcome to Atlanta’s Team Gay, weather daddy! Oh, you meant that team. Go weather. Yay.

We like how he’s a team player.

And can dish with his girls.

And hang with the boys.

In 2010, Champion was rumored to be married to another boyfriend, boutique owner Shawn Bell, with whom Champion owned one home in Manhattan and another in Connecticut. That was before he officially came out to the public. Apparently, Rubem came along and won the heart of a Champion.

Which we'd try because Sam will basically do anything.

Like play Gay of Thrones. Even if he kinda hates it.

And bring that roleplay home. Wrangle that steer.

We jest. Sam is a cuddle bear.

Like, totally.

And any friend of Kelly’s is a friend of ours.

We have to wait for your precious weather, Sam, but you look good in a Speedo.

Of course, your husband looks better.

And two great tastes taste great together.

Better show everybody.

Oooh and they love their mothers!

Back to the Speedo. Yes, it’s still there.

And it’s holding up well from the back. Better shoot another selfie.

Look at y’all! All cute with pants, phone at the ready.

Where did he go? Oh well, selfie time.

I’ve been looking for you. Not really.

Let’s do one together.

Although this week, they’re more likely to look like this.

But mostly, it'll be more like this.

See you guys around town! Yes yes, we still see your husband.
