Joe’s on Juniper, the popular patio hangout for the gays and their beer busts, sometimes gets a bum rap for favoring scene over food. They probably shouldn’t read why they aren’t the perfect Midtown hangout. Eric Celeste, upset that he didn’t make the cut for “The A List: Dallas,” fled Texas for Midtown and to take the editorial helm of Creative Loafing late last year. In his quest to fit in, Celeste has attended a Hawks game, checked out the arts scene, jogged with homeless people and cruised LA Fitness. Now, he’s taking on Midtown in search of a perfect hangout. The quest brought him to Joe’s. It wasn’t good.
Joe's on Juniper (same owners, turns out) just wants to flaunt its great location, patio, and the gay male sex jokes on its menu, and it does all those things well, which covers for the sad state of the actual menu items. And Celeste doesn’t even know about the whole fail-then-pass Joe’s health inspection flap. But trust us. You’ll soon be acting like a jaded queen and giving up on the Midtown thing.
