Gay patio hotspot Joe’s on Juniper and its more refined sibling, Einstein’s, are now embroiled in bankruptcy as the gay-friendly restaurateur who owns them tries to fight his way out of $2 million in defaulted loan payments.
But Jeff Landau tells the Atlanta Business Chronicle that the restaurants — popular for gay fundraisers and shirtless beer busts — along with three others will remain open as their parent companies reorganize in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. So don’t fret, gay boys. Your Joining Hearts beer bust on June 29 is still on for Joe’s.
“We certainly plan to reorganize,” he said. “There is not even a 1 percent chance of closing down one of those businesses. These are healthy businesses.”
Landau’s other gay eatery, Cowtippers, is not involved in the legal dispute.
Landau’s companies filed bankruptcy on June 13 after they faced a $2 million judgment in Cobb County Superior Court for defaulted loan payments to Miller Capital Ventures, according to ABC.
Joe’s may be in bankruptcy. And it may not be the “perfect Midtown hangout.” And it sometimes has troubles with failing health inspections. But it’s still open, pouring and offering up its expansive patio for gay Sunday Funday.
