Bingo ball holding Jerry Friday isn’t shy about talking into a microphone. But how about singing “Firework” on national TV? This gay Atlanta do-gooder did just that on “Ellen.”
Friday is known to fans of the monthly drag-charity bingo fundraiser hosted by Pets Are Loving Support as the guy who pulls out the ping pong balls and calls out their numbers. (He’s also the board chair for PALS.) But his star power gained a little wattage on Wednesday when DeGeneres aired a clip of audience members belting out the Katy Perry hit.
Friday’s not so pitch perfect version garnered the most air time and was rewarded with his mug being splashed across Ellen’s big screen as the clip ended. Cut right to Friday’s melodic interlude in the video above and watch the entire segment below.
It’s not the first time Ellen has gone with an Atlanta personality on her show. She hosted a sexy male stripper lap dance for NeNe Leakes last month. And Friday’s appearance on national TV wasn’t the first for a gay Atlantan. Journalist and WABE anchor Jim Burress grabbed a bright green wig for his few minutes of fame in December during an episode of “Let’s Make A Deal.”
