Nothing says LGBT political success, forward momentum, and big gay fundraising quite like a brunch with award presentations, so that’s exactly what Victory Fund delivered in Atlanta on Sunday.
The OutToWin Champagne Brunch roused policy-minded gays out of bed and into nice clothes to be inspired by the organization dedicated to training and supporting openly LGBT candidates. They hit the Intercontinental Buckhead with former Atlanta City Council President Cathy Woolard – and maybe future mayoral candidate – as host while gay power players drummed up enthusiasm and financial support from the podium.
Among the honorees, Georgia Equality Deputy Director Melinda Sheldon was recognized with an award for her dedication, and outgoing Victory Fund President Chuck Wolfe was saluted for 12 years of service.
Other OUTtoWIN brunch speakers and guests included lesbian state Rep. Keisha Waites, gay Atlanta state House candidate Bob Gibeling, gay Atlanta City Council member Alex Wan, and special guest Jon Headley, who is a gay candidate for the Michigan legislature.
