The Victory Fund descended on Atlanta to toast its LGBTQ supporters, elected officials and candidates during a Bubbles & Biscuits Brunch on Sunday.
The annual event at the Wimbish House always draws a crowd of gay Atlanta's political influencers. Special guests included Charlotte City Council member LaWana Mayfield, that city's first openly gay elected official, and Atlanta City Council member Alex Wan, who was the first openly gay man elected to the council. Wan, who is running for city council president, received the Victory Fund Leadership Award.
Other attendees included Cathy Woolard, a longtime LGBT advocate running for Atlanta mayor, and Kirk Rich, a gay real estate agent running for the District 6 seat on the Atlanta City Council. Aisha C. Moodie-Mills, Victory Fund's president and CEO, was also on hand.
On Saturday, Victory Fund hosted a day-long training for about 50 LGBTQ people interested in running for elected office during its Atlanta Leadership Summit.
