Vern Yip and partner welcome baby Gavin

imageWe love us some Vern Yip. The Atlanta designer and television personality is the Simon Cowell of HGTV, what with his brand of tough love on the network’s “Design Star.”

And while we’ve always clocked Yip as a mo — he sets off our gaydar like Leslie Jordan enjoying the strippers at Swinging Richards — we’ve not ever seen public confirmation of our suspicions. But really, have you seen his house? And that one season on “Trading Spaces” where he buffed up? And seriously, he is an interior designer, even if HGTV dumped his “Deserving Designs.”

Anyway, now we’ve got confirmation. He and partner Craig Koch — founder and CEO of Wag-A-Lot doggie daycare — are the proud parents via surrogate of Gavin Joshua Mannox. The news of the stork delivery came via the AJC’s Buzz and People.

The baby was 7 lbs., 6 oz., and 19 ½ inches long.

“He is beautiful and perfect and we are, naturally, already in love with him,” says Yip.

The Trading Spaces alum will soon be busy with more than diapers and bottles: Yip will be shooting his fifth season as head judge of “Design Star,” HGTV’s reality competition show, now helmed by Mark Burnett – the mastermind behind “Survivor” and “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
