With classes done for the summer, a University of Georgia professor came up with a way to make a few extra bucks. Trick by trick. But this story doesn't have a happy ending for German literature professor Max Reinhart. Gwinnett police arrested Reinhart, 65, on Thursday after detectives cruising backpage.com set up a sting with Sasha, who was offering $60 for 30 minutes of services under “transsexual escorts.” An undercover cop met Sasha at a Norcross hotel and after negotiations over who's doing what to whom, Reinhart was arrested, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The undercover investigator met with Reinhart/"Sasha" and negotiated a charge of $60 for half an hour of "services," and Reinhart was subsequently arrested, police said. Reinhart was booked into the jail just after 12:30 p.m., and released Thursday evening around 9:15 p.m., on $4,800 bond, according to jail records.

Reinhart is a professor of Germanic and Slavic Studies. In addition to turning tricks, allegedly, he’s also an accomplished author, the Red & Black reports.

Reinhart's major area of research is early modern Germany (ca. 1400-1700), and he is author or editor of eight books. Most recently, he edited volume four of Early Modern German Literature, of the 10-volume series Camden House History of German Literature. He has secondary interests in music history, especially the German lied (song) of the 19th century and in Early Christianity and Late Empire.
