imageIt almost had the feel of a “RuPaul’s Drag Race” reunion on Tuesday with the likes of Tyra and Mariah, but the Midtown fundraiser had a more serious side, too.

The ladies who wowed us on the Logo show – season two winner Tyra Sanchez (top photo) and season three contestant Mariah Paris Balenciaga (bottom photo) – worked the bar area of Einstein’s during a fundraiser for the Evolution Project, an AID Atlanta outreach effort aimed at LGBT men of color.

imageWith those Atlanta ladies – yes, Mariah is a longtime Atlantan and Tyra now lives here, too — working the floor, you know those dollars were flowing about as smoothly as the cocktails. Here’s how Dining for Donations worked: The gay-popular eatery donated 10 percent of sales during the event to the Evolution Project, which earmarked the funds for its team taking part in the AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run in mid October.

There’s no word yet on the tally raised, but organizers called the evening a success.

Dining for Donations was a huge success! It was accompanied by an amazing turn out, the night couldn’t have been more perfect and it was to raise funds for The Evolution Project. Next event is going to be even better!

The Evolution Project is in the midst of developing a new media campaign and recently released a video with a little dose of encouragement in light of recent troubling numbers showing a steep rise in HIV among black gay men.
