Totally Tyler: gay-TL sex and Chick-fil-A [video]

Writer Totally Tyler is totally insightful, and he’s totally the first guest of the new Brushstrokes author events at Mixx. Meet him on Thursday, but warm up first with our video interview.

In our Skype interview with Tyler from his New York apartment, the author of “Your Boyfriend and Other Guys I’ve Kissed” sips on a martini and reveals his take on slut shaming, local reactions to interracial relationships, bad Atlanta dates including “The Asshole,” and how he might take the guilty out of the pleasure of Chick-fil-A.

With a subtitle like “The Tails of Totally Tyler,” you might think it’s all slutty fun as Tyler (photo) romps through gay Atlanta on a manhunt in the book. Yes, there are plenty of dates, drinks and debauchery from the years he lived here, but this debut collection of his best blog posts is much more than that, he tells us.

Tyler’s Thursday book reading and signing is the first of a promised slate of author events hosted by Brushstrokes at Mixx, which stepped up to the literary plate after the collapse of Outwrite. Of course, Brushstrokes puts its own twist on the concept by hosting it at a bar, something Totally Tyler is totally all about.
