Depending on your crowd, shows you watch and social media you follow, you may know “Son of God” hit theaters on Feb. 28, and gays are all over a #hotjesus hashtag to end all sexy savior memes.
The movie is “Touched by an Angel” costar Roma Downey and husband Mark Burnett's feature-length adaptation of their History Channel runaway hit “The Bible.” So is it by design that they cast Portugese model-turned-actor Diogo Morgado (top photo) as one of the hottest big-screen Jesuses ever? Hollywood history would suggest a resounding “yes.”
There’s definitely something sacrilegious in #hotjesus, and maybe that’s what makes reigniting it so appealing. Even if God didn’t make Jesus hot, Hollywood did. You can Google that shame from Isaiah later, or you can search out #HotJesus here and now.
Morgado is hardly the first and won’t be the last Hot Jesus. For his part, he tells the New York Times that he knows the value of getting butts in seats.
“It’s a compliment, obviously, but I don’t want that to take away from what we tried to achieve, Morgado says. “The best story is the story that gets to the most people. If the message of Jesus was love, hope and compassion, and I can bring that to more people by being a more appealing Jesus, I am happy with that.”
Well said, stud. You see, this isn’t Morgado’s first time at the Hot Jesus Rodeo. He got a trial run at answering the same questions when “The Bible” aired on History Channel in March 2013. He's had time to expand on “I’m embarrassed” last year to create the perfect response this round.
So even if it makes us feel dirty, or maybe because it does, this is one meme that we don’t mind revisiting. Here are the sexiest #HotJesus actors in Hollywood history. And don't even get us started on “Noah's” sexy sons.

For a bare-bones presentation of Jesus, there sure seems to be a lot of flesh on screen—and what attractive flesh it is. With carefully styled hair, omnipresent smile, and sparkly eyes that say, “I see into your soul,” Diogo Morgado’s Jesus really puts the carnal in incarnate.
