It was a nippy but productive couple of early mornings for Atlanta’s own queer-inclusive rockers The Sexual Side Effects last weekend as they, several locals and their Hollywood-backed crew took to the streets and a soundstage to shoot a video for their single “Aurora.”
We first brought you the digital recording of the song to hear when the band announced that heralded TV director Michael Simon heard the song, loved it and offered to helm the video shoot.
After a Kickstarter campaign raised more than the $2,000 needed for equipment to do the project, trans frontwoman Amber Taylor leaked a bad-ass early shot (photo) from the shoot and laid out the specifics of how the tough-but-worth-it video shoot went down – including a 4 a.m. location call on Saturday in Newborn and a 9 a.m. call on Sunday in Little Five Points.
On Friday the cast and crew all converged in Atlanta, with talent from L.A., New York, Nashville, Savannah as well as many local Atlanta people. …
After enduring the frigid temps, lack of sleep, sunburn and windburn the crew headed home and got well rested for the sound stage portion of the video shoot on Sunday. …
The entire shoot was an overwhelming success and we are now ready to move to the post-production phase as we start editing the footage.
In the meantime, press play to hear the song again.
