The best queer things to do in Atlanta over Halloween weekend

Creaking, screams and other things that go bump in the night are all queer. LGBTQ Atlanta embraces Halloween with events that go all out with costumes for fun and fundraising.

Friday, Oct. 26

AGLCC Fourth Friday. Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce hosts its monthly happy hour and networking mixer @ UPS, 5:30 p.m. 

The View Upstairs. This new musical honors the people inside the 1973 arson at New Orleans gay bar the Upstairs Lounge. The show opens the 2018-19 season @ Out Front Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through Nov. 10. Read our preview in this issue of Q magazine. Gays for Plays sees the show with pre- and post-parties tonight.

The Happy Prince. An Out on Film award winner gets its local theatrical release @ Springs Cinema & Tap House, Roswell, all week. 

Monster Bash Weekend. Costume parties with gay campers @ Timberfell Lodge Campground, Greenville, Tenn., all weekend.

Halloweenie. Party with the cool kids in East Atlanta @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Shalloween with Sasha Velour. Snatch your look for Wussy’s Halloween party with the Season 9 RPDR queen @ Heretic, 9 p.m.

Cruise Control kicks the weekend into high gear with a special Halloween themed music edition with DJ Mister Richard @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Halloween Blowout with Celeste Holmes puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars. Don’t forget Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Halloween Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater.  Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Fresh Fish Friday & Moonlight Cabaret. Early drag to wrap your week, 8 p.m. and drag eleganza fabulosity with Shavonna B. Brooks and Raquel Lord to kick off the weekend, 11 p.m. There's also a movie on the patio bar @ Midtown Moon, 7 p.m.

Halloween Drrty Divas. Boys, booze, beats and Atlanta's hottest queens hosted by Destiny Brooks @ Ten, 10 p.m. 


Saturday, Oct. 27

SSL Fall Ball. Southern Softpaw League continues its 10th softball season @ Nickajack Park, 10 a.m. Every Saturday except Pride Weekend through Nov. 10.

College Football Saturday. All the games and matchups on the screens, and all the gay guys to watch it with @ Woofs, 12 noon.

Strange Brew #Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of the party as the sun drops @ Mary’s, 2:30 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during the regularly scheduled shenanigans, 9 p.m.

Halloween Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girlsentertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

Costume Square Dance. Hotlanta Squares host this LGBTQ costume version of their monthly dance @ City of Light, 7 p.m.

Amy Ray.  Half of the legendary Indigo Girls duo brings her solo act and a full band with opening act H.C. McEntire @ Variety Playhouse, 8 p.m.

Reykjavik. Gay playwright Steve Yockey goes full-tilt supernatural in his latest work, a thriller of sex and danger @ Actor’s Express, 8 p.m. Runs through Nov. 18. 

Trick or Treat. Costume contest and more with the guys of Atlanta’s gay sports bar @ Woofs, 8 p.m.

Pop Karaoke with Princess Charles. Sing your heart out with your host plus DJ Suzanne @ Midtown Tavern, 9 p.m.

Halloween Fantasy Girls. The queens you love doing what you love cabaret style, plus your amazing costumes with big prizes @ Ten, 9 p.m.

Nightmare at Midtown Moon. Costume Contest with Shavonna B. Brooks @ Midtown Moon, 9 p.m.

The Nightmare Before Christmas. Costumes and go-go boys go together like salt and pepper @ BJ Roosters, 9 p.m.

Halloween Ladies Night. Get your LGBTQ weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in costume for a $500 prize @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Bordello of Blood. Your crazy costumes are always welcome to join the parade of people @ Friends on Ponce, 9 p.m.

Heretic Halloween. DJ Mike Pope and a $1,000 costume contest hosted by Bubba D. Licious @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Nightmare on Ponce 4. DJ Pat Scott and all your spooky sexy leather friends @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Queeriety Slightly Rocky Halloween Extravaganza. The LGBTQ variety show that you never knew you needed but so did @ Village Theatre, 11 p.m. 

After Hours. Soulful house music by resident DJs presented by Culmination Productions keeps you partying as late as you want @ Tokyo Valentino, 2 a.m.

Xion Halloween Afterhours. DJ J Warren moves you ‘til sunrise @ BJ Roosters, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, Oct. 28

Emily Kinney (bottom photo). The Walking Dead, Masters of Sex and Messiahstar is recording again, and she hits Atlanta behind her new “Oh Jonathan” album on the Same Mistakes Tour. Paul McDonald opens @ Eddie’s Attic, 8 p.m. 

Y’all Means All Canvass. Join supporters knocking on doors for Georgia’s entire slate of Democrats @ the neighborhood closest to you, 11 a.m.

Gospel Brunch. Singing queens while you eat from a smorgasbord of serving stations @ Midtown Moon, 11 a.m.

NFL Sunday Funday. All the football games and other competitions on the screens, plus all the guys to watch them with @ Woofs, 12 noon.

Drag Brunch with the Sisters of Sequins @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde @ Blake's, 8:30 p.m.

Madams, Marys & Mimosas serves drag, brunch and drink specials @ Ten Atlanta, 1 p.m. Sit. Stay. The Sunday Funday weekly tradition of outdoor dudes, DJs and drinks, 4 p.m.

Atlanta United Watch Party. The local LGBT pro-soccer fan club All Stripes checks out the away game together on multiple screens @ Las Margaritas, 4 p.m.The game is also on TV @ Woofs, 5 p.m.

Sunday Sabbath. Celeste Holmes stages the queens for your weekend wrap party @ Midtown Tavern, 6 p.m.

Armorettes Halloween Show. The camp drag crazies with the hearts of gold against AIDS are in their 40th year of weekly shows @ Midtown Moon, 9 p.m.

After Hours. Urban Hip Hop all night by resident DJs, plus 15 dancers and three levels to party presented by Culmination Productions keeps you partying as late as you want @ Tokyo Valentino, 11 p.m.
