The best queer things to do in Atlanta over Christmas Weekend

When Christmas falls on Monday, it gets you right past all the usual weekly drama of that day. Now you can head into the last workweek of the year with holly jolly LGBTQ events to spare.

Friday, Dec. 22

TGIF Cocktail Time: Sangria! (top photo) makes Atlanta's gay sports bar even more fun @ Woofs, 8 p.m.

Puddles Pity Party. Chances are you knew this singularly unique crooning clown before the rest of the world met him on “America’s Got Talent.” Now Atlanta’s Pagliacci for the modern era sings for the hometown crowd @ Center Stage, 8 p.m.

Santaland Diaries. Gay gadabout Topher Payne takes over the role of Cratchet, the snarky gay department store elf in David Sedaris' version of Santa’s Village @ Horizon Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through Dec. 31.

Baddest Bitch: Siouxie + Santa. The cool East Atlanta kids dedicate their monthly diva worship event to the queen of 80s goth @ Mary’s, 10 p.m.

WussyBopz. What you were missing and didn’t know it was this ‘90s Dance Party with the Wussy crew. DJ Aasha is on deck @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Jingle Balls with A&E Entertainment gets the weekend going @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Fresh Face Friday puts the newest drag glamazons on display. Then get your singles ready for premiere queens in Femme Fatale @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Celestial Friday. Celeste Holmes hosts the show “where the stars come out” and puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

 

Saturday, Dec. 23

Deep South. Christy Love of House of Stank and W Jeremy (second photo), both of Get Up Recordings in New York, close out the year for this alternative party crew headed by local lesbian DJ Vicky Powell. The host herself warms up @ Heretic, 10 p.m. 

#Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of the party as the sun drops @ Mary’s, 2:30 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during the regularly schedule shenanigans, 9 p.m.

Christmas Fantasy Girls. The queens you loved at the weekly Jungle show have a new home @ Ten, 9:30 p.m.

DJ Eric and Dirty Santa kicks Saturday into high gear @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Saturday Pop! Popup drag and Popup men werqs Saturday night into a frenzy @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Sizzling Startlets and Fever. The opening show is followed by the quintessential drag cast working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. 

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

 

Sunday, Dec. 24

Christmas Eve Church. Queer and queer-inclusive congregations do up their Sunday best for the season @ Saint Mark UMC, 10 a.m., City of Light MCC, 11 a.m., St. Bart’s Episcopal, 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Cathedral of St. Philip, 10 a.m., New Covenant Church of Atlanta, 11 a.m., and a Christmas Eve Service @ Unitarian Universalist, 10 a.m.

Sporty Sunday Funday. All the games and matches on the screens and all the guys to watch it with @ Woofs, 12 noon.

Drag Brunch with the Sisters of Sequins led by Bubba D. Licious while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde @ Blake's, 8:30 p.m.

Sunday Tea. The weekly tradition of dudes, DJs and drinks continues @ Ten. Low-Tea vocal tracks, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. High Tea today’s hits, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens goes in hard @ Burkhart’s, 10:30 p.m.

 

Monday, Dec. 25

Mary Christmas! It's all over but the crying. You were good this year, or at least good at it. May the day and the New Year bring you all your little queer heart desires.
