Cosplayers and RuGirls and bears, oh my! Bear Pride, queer gaymers and drag guest stars don’t even make a dent in your list of options for a very gay weekend of events in Atlanta.

Friday, Sept. 10

Atlanta Bear Pride. A whopping 10 events, from primetime to afterhours to afternoon tea @ Heretic, Future, Woofs and Fuego. Start with the ABP Warmup Party @ Woofs, 7 p.m. The Bear Invasion ABP Kickoff features Dan De Leon @ Heretic, 10 p.m. Go until dawn with ABP Afterhours @ Future, 3 a.m. Read the full weekend preview.

Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. The camp classic is back on the big screen, with drag hosts and a costume contest @ Plaza Theatre, 9:30 p.m.

Q Force. The animated LGBTQ hero team that you didn’t ask for but maybe kinda like @ Netflix, through September.

The Other Two. The gayest funniest sleeper hit you might have missed returns for Season 2. Catch up and then binge @ HBO Max, through September.

Ellie & Abbie (& Abbie’s Dead Aunt). A heartfelt, hilarious teen lesbian romcom from Australia hits VOD with a crush, a party, and a dead lesbian activist from the ‘80s @ On Demand, through September. Watch the trailer.

Pray Away. Stream this documentary about the rise to power of Exodus International and its profoundly harmful “ex gay” movement, from the 1970s through present day @ Netflix, through September.

Friday BBQ. Atlanta’s gay sports bar does in-person as well as to-go food and cocktails. Fridays are extra special with a taste-escape to backyard ‘cues @ Woofs, 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.

F*ck It Friday. Drop in on a full day and night of anything goes. When the sun goes down, find DJ Mr. Richard on deck @ Hideaway, 2 p.m. – 3 a.m.

Atlanta United Tailgate. The local pro soccer club plays, and the LGBTQ tailgaters of All Stripes are all over it @ 58 Magnum St. SW near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, 4 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Fantasy Girls. Phoenix and Taejah Thomas headline two dinner-show experiences with Lala Ri, Trinity Bonet and Raquel Heart in the show bar @ Future, 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Atlanta Rainbow Trout Water Polo. The LGBTQ team practices every week @ Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, 7:30 p.m. Same again on Tuesdays, 7:30 p.m. First two practices free.

Queer Bait. East Atlanta’s gay bar hosts a VJ and Atlanta’s most eclectic collection of queers @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

House of Legends. Drag, drinks, dancers and DJ Rob Reum @ Ten Atlanta, 10 p.m.

Madams of the Moonlight. Legendary queens doing legendary things @ Midtown Moon, 10 p.m.

Karlitos Afterhours.  Help celebrate Xion afterhours parties addition of Friday nights. Get into it until sunup @ Future, 3 a.m.

Saturday, Sept. 11

Multiverse with Rock M. Sakura. The Ru queen brings her cosplay vibe to Atlanta, and Wussy invites all her nerds to join the fun @ My Sister’s Room, 10 p.m.

Candler Park Music Festival. All day, all night vendor booths and live tunes @ Candler Park, 12 noon – 11 p.m.

Tassels, Trinkets & Treasures. An 18+ burlesque showcase. Open mic, food, drinks and marketplace items like burlesque costumes, thrift items, pasties, henna tattoos, teas and more @ Red Light Café, 12 noon – 5 p.m.

Front Runners. One of two weekly group runs with Atlanta’s LGBTQ @ John Howell Park, 9 a.m.

Hotlanta Soccer. Weekly practice until tournament play is safer @ Central Park, 10 a.m.

Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of the party when the sun drops @ Mary’s, 3 p.m.

Glitz & Glam. Charlie Brown and her girls give you dinner and a show in Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Fantasy Girls. Phoenix and Destiny Brooks headline two dinner-show experiences with Shawnna Brooks, Extasy Grey and Cici Nicole in the show bar @ Future, 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Eyeball these photos from the fun.

Hotlanta Squares. The first LGBTQ square dance since February 2020 is ready to do-si-do @ Peachtree Baptist Church, 7 p.m.

Outworlders Game Night. Friends and fun with Atlanta’s LGBTQ gaymers and sci-fi geeks @ 1833 Streamview, 7 p.m.

Pop! DJ Nova does the music and video party gays and gals need @ Blake’s 9 p.m.

Atlanta Bear Pride continues. Get down at the Bear Tea Dance with DJ J Warren @ Heretic, 3 p.m. then the centerpiece Bearracuda Bear Pride, 10 p.m. DJ Mohammad comes into town to spin ABP Afterhours @ Future, 3 a.m. Read the full weekend preview.

Midtown Saturday Night. Gather your gay-guy gaggle @ X Midtown, 10 p.m.

Deca-Dance.  DJ Darlene spins tunes with drink specials @ Hideaway, 10 p.m.

Divas of the Moonlight. Myah Ross Monroe, Angelica D’Paige Brooks and more @ Midtown Moon, 10 p.m.

Anubis Neon Party. King B presents a glow theme this time with DJ Le Grand Phoenix @ BJs Lower Level, 11 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 12

Atlanta Bear Pride wraps with a full day and night. Eat up during Bear Pride Sunday Funday @ Woofs, 1 p.m., Fuego’s nautically themed Seaman Overload Party with DJ Rue-D @ Crazy Atlanta, 3 p.m.  Atlanta Bear Pride Closing Party ft. Drag Brunch. The Sisters of Sequins at the wheel while you eat in dinner-theater style @ Lips, 12:30 p.m.

Atlanta Rainbow Trout Swimming. The local LGBTQ swimming club practices @ Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, 12 noon. Same again on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. First two practices free.

Sunday Brunch & Heifer Review. Ruby Redd drives the bus while you eat up and drink down with $20 endless Mimosas @ Midtown Moon, 1 p.m. There’s also the Other Side of the Moon drag show, 9 p.m.

ABetterBuzz Brand Pop-Up Shop. The local gay t-shirt and swag line displays its wares among 50 great handmade artists, plus the great food and drinks @ Atlanta Dairies, 12 noon – 6 p.m.

Spill the ‘T’ with Mother. Get the day going with drink specials and DJ Rob Reum, then keep it going with Honey Pot Bear Night @ Hideaway, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Sunday Funday. Gather at the rainbow crosswalks, then step into one of gay Atlanta’s biggest bar traditions. Cocktails, food, shows and fun @ X Midtown, 4 p.m. through 12 midnight.

MSR: Brunch & Drag. All weekend will be bumping at Atlanta’s lesbian bar, but Sunday gets a lot crazier when you have Monday off. Eat, drink, and the drag show starts at 4 p.m. @ My Sister’s Room, all day and night.

Chaka Khan Hacienda. DJ Ree de la Vega and her crew serve the outdoor dance party and vendor pop-ups you so frickin’ need right now @ 8Arm, 5 p.m.

Sunday Service. Vicki Powell’s patio party goes down at Edgewood’s OG alternaqueer hotspot with special guests and a guaranteed crowd @ Sister Lousia’s Church, 6 p.m.

Shameless Sunday. Kyra Mora hosts the fun with Brigitte Bidet and Shawnna Brooks in the cabaret and DJ Kevin Durard in the club @ Future, 8 p.m. The dance floor pops anew with DJ Karlitos, 12 a.m.
