You’ve bided your time all week for this. Well, the wait is over. Make plans for Atlanta’s big gay weekend with our favorites among options for LGBT events, nightlife, arts and parties set for Friday through Sunday.

Friday, May 3
GaylaxiCon 2013 with OutlantaCon (top photo). The national big gay SciFi-Fantasy convention hits Atlanta again this year with celebrity guests, authors, gaming, cosplay, vendors, parties and a packed all-weekend events schedule @ Atlanta Marriott Century Center, through Sunday. Things got crazy last time GaylaxiCon collided with OutlantaCon (photos).

Doggies on the Catwalk (second photo) puts local celebrities in fancy fashions walking cute dogs in getups to help benefit the Atlanta Humane Society. The gay-founded event is the brainchild of Fashionado’s Vincent Martinez, and this year features clothes from Tootsies and Bloomingdales @ W Atlanta Buckhead, 7 p.m. Get a feel with last year’s photos.

Queer Prom. GSA Connect, JustUs ATL and the Decatur High School GSA invite everyone to this night to remember for all ages. Wear what you want and prepare for dancing and Lip Sync For Your Life are just the beginning @ Saint Mark UMC, 8 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Taste for Theatre 2013 rolls out the annual wine and beer tasting with this year’s Steam Punk theme to preview 7 Stages upcoming season, munch some food truck munchies, enjoy other entertainment and of course drink to raise money for the company @ 7 Stages, 7 p.m.

Mutiny Party combines punk, alternative, electro, indie, metal and “whatever the fuck else they want” with DJs Cellar Dweller and Zombie Kong at East Atlanta’s gay dive. Cult classics on the video screens and all the alternaqueer you can handle @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Dinner & A Movie with Jaye Lish kicks off Jungle’s Friday with a full menu, drink and meal specials, giveaways, surprises. This week, Best of the “Serial Mom” (third photo) on the big screen in the Jungle Room @ Jungle, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Then it’s The Other Show with Edie Cheezburger and cast continuing the Golden Girls theme with their show, 9:30 p.m. Now work it off with a move to the main room for Jungle University with DJ Christopher Kind @ Jungle, 11 p.m. 

Got Leche? Cowboy Style. Say Ay Ay Ay to Canta Y No Llores as this week’s western-theme during Atlanta’s gay Got Leche? weekly Latin night @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

“Uncensored: Live” records a TV show with you in the mix. Destiny Brooks headlines the part drag, part male performers, part cash and prizes and all original and amazing experience @ Le Buzz, Marietta, 11 p.m. Hey now, get this: It’s Free Friday Customer Appreciation Night, too.

FUR is Heretic’s Friday bear dance party. Get into it this week with the beats of popular DJ Chris Griswold @ Heretic, 10 p.m. Before you go, check out Griswold's vaired, sexy and mostly shirtless looks.

The Fab Five drag revue puts the glamazons on display each week hosted by Angelica D’Paige. Get your dollars ready for some of Atlanta’s premiere queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

BanjeeGirl Friday gets your lesbian weekend started right with a DJ-driven dance party and all the ladies you can handle from the TraxxGirls promoters @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

 

Saturday, May 4
Philip Bonneau's 101 Dalmations Photo Shoot Rescheduled. Due to a high chance of rain, the community photo shoot is rescheduled for May 11.

Flag Football League continues its season with 10 gay teams of National Flag Football League of Atlanta @ Boulevard Crossing, 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. UPDATE: RAINED OUT

GaylaxiCon 2013 with OutlantaCon continues its big gay SciFi-Fantasy convention in Atlanta this year with celebrity guests, authors, gaming, cosplay, vendors, parties and a full daily schedule @ Atlanta Marriott Century Center, through Sunday.

Lashes, Laughter and Live! is part beer bust, part performance showcase, part hot boy fashion show, part fundraiser and all fun. Pay $10 for bottomless beer and enjoy a song from the upcoming album by gay Atlanta’s own Brian Sharp (fourth photo), standup comedians, bidding on Boy Next Door swimsuits right off the models and more to benefit the Atlanta Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence fund @ Mixx Atlanta, 6 p.m.

Michelle Malone Banned gathers behind its blues-rock lesbian frontwoman for an outdoor gig as part of Concerts on the Square @ Decatur Square, 7 p.m.

Poetry Atlanta welcomes a queer-inclusive writers roster including Amanda Auchter, Megan Volpert, and Julie E. Bloemeke @ Charis Books & More, 7:30 p.m.

2013 HRC Atlanta Gala Dinner (fifth photo) tuxes and gowns it up with “Glee’s” Matthew Morrison, this year's LGBT local honorees, and you in your finest interpretation of fancy fabulous during the 26th annual event and the theme “Shaping Our Future” @ Hyatt Regency Atlanta, 6 p.m. View more than 150 photos from last year.

Halcyon returns as the main attraction for gay female Atlanta’s early start to Cinco de Mayo. The lesbian duo performs live as part of the party with tons of specials, DJ beats and more @ My Sister’s Room, 10 p.m.

Gurlfrandz: May tha 4th Be With You is Atlanta’s anti-usual drag show. This week, the crew serves space odyssey sci-fi realness. Come early and stay late for DJs Whorelock and 5 Hour Boner to cruise the night away @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

DJ David Knapp’s Official HRC Dance After Party brings the local favorite mixmaster (seventh photo) to the turntables at gay Atlanta’s favorite dance club. Tux boys and t-shirt late-comers mix-and-match for a gay throwdown not to be missed @ Jungle, 10 p.m. Door discount with HRC ticket or black tie attire. Portion of proceeds benefit HRC.

Extravaganza Show is the weekly fabulosity hosted by big, blonde and beautiful Shavonna “B is for Barbie” Brooks and her amazing lineup of entertainers @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Early Country & Late Night Dance offers line dancing and two stepping after the sun goes down, then DJ Mike Pope picks up the pace until close @ Heretic, 8 p.m. and 12 midnight.

Southeast Black & Blue Fundraiser welcomes all fetish friends to a night of demos and specials to benefit the local group @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

 

Sunday, May 5

Papi’s Cinco de Mayo Carnival Extravaganza (bottom photo) is gay Atlanta’s biggest Cinco de Mayo celebration each year. Get down to the sounds, bump to the beats and revel in live entertainment with hundreds and hundreds of gay friends new and old @ Las Margaritas, 12 noon – 11 p.m. Check out photos from last year’s mayhem

Other gay fiestas for the Mexican holiday include the All-Day Cinco de Mayo Celebration @ Amsterdam, 11:30 a.m. – 12 midnight; Cinco de Mayo with Frida & Diego including DJ, art tours, art-making and a photo booth @ the High, 12 noon – 5p.m.; Cinco de Mayooooooo! With DJ Mike Pope @ ParQ, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Cinco de Mayo Festival @ Eclectic Bistro & Bar, 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Cinco de Mayo Margarita Madness @ Blake’s, all day.

Hotlanta Softball League pitches and catches Atlanta’s gay softball teams through their weekly games in multiple divisions @ Metro Softball Complex, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. As always, the HSL Extra Innings Beer Bust follows, this week it’s a Cinco theme with the Rubber Ducks @ Amsterdam, 4 p.m.

Kristy Lee puts a Southern spin on her music that brings all the swooning girlies out to play @ Eddie’s Attic, 9 p.m.

Grown & Sexy Sundays @ the Shelter in Buckhead, 9 p.m.

The Armorettes do their weekly camp drag for charity in their ongoing mission to bring bawdy drag and donated tips to the HIV/AIDS fight in Atlanta @ Burkhart’s, 8 p.m. Come early for showtunes singalong and other treats, 6 p.m.
