You’ve earned your R&R, and the LGBT-ATL has your interests at heart with events like movies, performances, sports, cocktail parties, and all-weekend shindigs. Ready? Set. Go!

Friday, April 8

“Take me to the River” (top photo). A family reunion goes dark and super gay when a California teenager becomes the sudden target of suspicion in a long-buried family secret @ Midtown Art Cinema, all week.

Atlanta Leather Pride. Three days of fun and kink celebrating the Eagle’s 29th anniversary kick off with the Hotlanta Rubber Meet and Greet @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m. Read our preview.

New South. These juried works on paper find a home on the gay-owned walls at this gay-run opening reception @ Kai Lin Art, 7 p.m.

Designing Women Live! Closing Weekend. Local gay actors including Topher Payne and Dwayne Morgan play Atlanta’s favorite TV designers. Watch them faithfully reenact favorite episodes of the venerable show @ OnStage Atlanta, 8 p.m. Runs through April 10.

“Dreamgirls.” A local production of the popular musical is helmed by a gay director @ Atlanta Lyric Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through April 24.

Atlanta Film Festival Closing Weekend. Ten days of cinematic celebration rock the city’s most venerable film festival, including the Pink Peach track of LGBT films @ Venues all over town through April 10.

Boys Room. Come hang out with the cool kids @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Jen Foster & Hannah Thomas. Gird your loins, ladies. Two lesbian Atlanta favorites take the stage to croon you into submission @ Eddie’s Attic, 9:30 p.m.

Pump. There’s no cover charge to kick off your weekend at this man-on-man dance party, this week with DJ Mike Pope @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Cirque du Soleil: Kurios. The latest cirque show hits town with a steampunk “cabinet of curiosities” @ Atlantic Station, 8 p.m. Runs through May 8. It's a six-pack show of sex appeal.

“Into the Woods.” You like musicals. This is one of the best. A local production of the Broadway favorite runs through April 17 at Aurora Theatre, 8 p.m.

The Other Show. A weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast tries to keep you guessing @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m

Deadly Vixens puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 9 p.m.

Femme Fatale puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Friday Night Dance Party. Another weekly way to kick off your weekend just hit 10th Street. See what you can get into @ G’s, 10 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Chaparral Night turns up the volume on its weekly gay Latin party with stage shows and dancing into the wee hours @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.


Saturday, April 9

Atlanta Leather Pride (middle photo). Three days of fun and kink celebrating the Eagle’s 29th anniversary continue with the Mr. & Ms. Atlanta Eagle and Mr. Hotlanta Rubber contests @ Eagle, 8 p.m. Stick around it’s the Sweat Victory Party with DJ Neon the GlowGoBear, 10 p.m. They are ready to dominate.

Atlanta Dogwood Festival. The whole city takes over gay base camp, and our people are all over it, surveying the situation in their shades and shorts @ Piedmont Park, all weekend.

#Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of tonight’s party @ Mary’s, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during regularly schedule shenanigans, 9 p.m.

Her HRC: 80s vs. 90s. DJs do decades in battle, and you get to enjoy the results. Benefiting HRC Atlanta, dance with the ladies and all their supporters @ Jungle, 7 p.m.

Jersey Night. Show your favorite team spirit while you huddle up with gay sports fans @ Woofs, 7 p.m.

Country All Night. Scoot your boots and two-step away @ Heretic, 8 p.m.

OMW: Alyson Calagna. The legendary DJ of the gay circuit psyches you up for the upcoming Orlando blowout One Magical Weekend with a set @ Jungle, 10: 30 p.m. Get there early for the Fantasy Girls show, 9 p.m.

Synergy turns up the volume on Saturday night and blows your ever-loving mind with glamazons working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Edie Cheezburger, a cast of premiere queens and special guests @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

DJs Travis & Eric All Nighter moves you all the way to sunrise, just steps away from BJs, Heretic and Jungle. Saturday never really ends @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, April 10

Change of Seasons (bottom photo). The annual tea dance that officially kicks off gay spring and the countdown of events toward Joining Hearts goes down with DJs Kevin Durard and Neon the GlowGoBear @ Georgian Terrace, 4 p.m.

Hotlanta Softball League pits the teams of gay pitchers and catchers against each other @ Johnson Park, Conyers, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Don’t miss the Extra Innings Beer Bust @ Woofs, 3 p.m.

NFFLA Flag Football pits the gay teams of National Flag Football League of Atlanta in their weekly gay jock showdown @ Boulevard Crossing Park, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

Atlanta Dogwood Festival. The whole city takes over gay base camp, and our people are all over it, surveying the situation in their shades and shorts @ Piedmont Park, all weekend.

Atlanta Leather Pride. Close out three days of fun and kink celebrating the Eagle’s 29th anniversary closes with the Leather Pride Brunch @ Roxx, 11 a.m.

Drag Brunch presents the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Sunday Funday wraps your weekend just the way you like it: with all your gays plus DJ Rob Reum  @ Ten Atlanta, 5 p.m. – midnight

So You Think You Can Sing. Move over, Adele. The Atlanta lesbians in this contest hope to find your match @ My Sister’s Room, 5 p.m.

Sunday Service with DJ Vicki Powell. The monthly patio party that always gets high praise returns @ Sister Louisa’s Church of the Living Room & Ping Pong Emporium, 7 p.m.

High Energy & Super Sunday. Get to gettin' with High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the Super Sunday drag show with Evah Destruction, Nichelle Paris, Shawnna Brooks and Raquell [email protected] Blake's, 8 p.m.

Armorettes: Disco Night. Atlanta’s camp drag crazies against AIDS are back doing good in the gayborhood @ Burkhart’s, 7:30 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m.
