Just when you were about to lose it, gay Atlanta’s weekend events swoop in like a hero. Grab on and let them take you far from the maddening workweek world and rescue your sanity to fight and thrive another day.

Friday, April 25
Chus & Cheballos (top photo). The dynamic DJ duo returns hotter than ever to gay Atlanta’s dance floor. One night only, they party with promoter Chris Coleman @ Opera, 10 p.m.

Dine Out Day for AID Atlanta. Another reason to do lunch or any other meal at one gay-owned eatery is that a portion of every sale goes to the statewide HIV/AIDS org. Healthy delicious choices and a good cause @ MetroFresh, all day.

AGLCC Fourth Friday lets down your happy hour hair after the workweek with the LGBT pros of Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce @ The Joint, 5:30 p.m.

“Lakebottom Prime” stages as the Atlanta premiere of this play by gAy-TL’s own Topher Payne with his peeps at the gay-run Process company. Get in on the prequel to Payne’s “Lakebottom Proper” @ Process Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through May 17.

Swank is the monthly women’s jam at the hotspot on the corner of Gay and Lesbian. Ladies fandango with VJ beats and tons of surprises @ 10th & Piedmont, 10 p.m.

The Other Show: Draggin’ Out the Decades offers the most unique drag cabaret in town with a singularly creative cast that always blasts your expectations. This month’s theme show takes you back. Way back @ Jungle, 9:30 p.m.

Ladies Lounge: Football Edition. Atlanta Phoenix players in the house for the night that gets your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, scores of MSR ladies and the TraxxGirls promoters @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

Boys Room. Nobody does gay in the ATL quite like the hip East Atlanta queers @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Pump pulls all the guys onto gay Atlanta’s hot man-on-man dance floor, this month with DJ Robert Ansley @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Femme Fatale with Destiny Brooks and Justice Tyana Taylor puts the drag glamazons on display each week. Get your singles ready for premiere Atlanta queens @ Burkhart’s, 11 p.m.

Girls Night goes down in the land usually ruled by Midtown boys. DJ Liz Owen and bartender Belinda treat you just right @ Blake’s, 9 p.m.

Men’s Night: Hardbody Contest draws all the suburban gays to the yard for sexy OTP fun. It’s also customer appreciation night @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 10 p.m.

Got Leche? weekly gay Latin night features stage shows, dancing and more @ Club Rush, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.


Saturday, April 26
Men of David. The magazine’s benefit contest that so many gays have been voting on hits the stage. The one and only Lady Bunny is in the house, and your donations to AID Atlanta are your votes for one of the Top 10 gay-ATLiens to win a prize package @ Jungle. VIP Reception, 8 p.m. Show, 9 p.m. Some of our fantasy men like Jared Allman (second photo) made the cut.

Flag Football pits the gay teams of National Flag Football League of Atlanta in a weekly gay jock showdown @ Boulevard Crossing Park, 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Fifth Quarter debriefing with alcohol starts @ Burkhart’s, 3 p.m.

Democrat Candidates LGBT Meet-N-Greet. The LGBT Caucus of the Democratic party of Georgia hosts this mixer with statewide candidates from Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb and Gwinnett. Get up close and personal @ state party headquarters, 10 a.m.

Ready 4 Hope Bear-BQ. Get with the R4H guys as they party it up to kickoff their 2014 fundraising for AIDS Walk. Bottomless beer, lunch, photo shoot and DJ Martin Fry plus raffles and shots make for a full day outside @ Heretic, 2 p.m.

Ginger Vitis 50th Birthday Roast says welcome to the seniors club to this popular drag fundraiser. Friends have a few choice words, and it all benefits Lost N Found Youth @ Mixx, 6 p.m.

“Dips of Depression” Art Show features the latest works by renowned gay Atlanta painter Patrick Hanson. He builds up the canvases to explore the depths of texture and mental illness in a provocative collection @ Cherrylion Studios, 7 p.m. Read our revealing interview.

Beloved Community Marriage Equality Dialogue. Get with gay and straight elected officials in a moderated panel discussion @ Friends School, 6 p.m.

Roxie Watson performs their all-girl, all-gay alterna-grass behind their latest album “Songs from Hell’s Hollow.” Tap your toes @ Crimson Moon, Dahlonega, 8 p.m. Read our interview.

Early Country & Late Night Dance offers line dancing and two stepping after the sun goes down, then DJ Mike Pope picks up the pace until close @ Heretic, 8 p.m. and 12 midnight.

Fire Gear Night puts you in your suspenders and red hat for a five-alarm hook-and-ladder party. DJ Christopher Kind brings the heat @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Mr. & Miss Kingdom Come: Final Chapter. The 14th year of this event sees which king and femme will wear the crowns, and it all goes down amid Atanta’s favorite lesbian Saturday night party @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

GlitterGlam werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Genre and featuring Stasha Sanchez, Taejah Thomas, “RuPaul’s” Trinity Bonet, Lateasha Shuntel and one lucky amateur guest performer every week. DJ beats and more cute boys than you can handle @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Synergy with Shawnna Brooks is the Saturday night show to rock your world @ Burkhart's, 11 p.m.

Sinful Saturday includes the Divas Cabaret and more bar night fun for the suburban gays outside the perimeter @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 10 p.m.

DJ Serving Ovahness All Nighter moves your booty all the way to sunrise, just steps away from BJs, Heretic and Jungle. Never stop shaking your ass @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.


Sunday, April 27
Big Gay Joining Hearts Beer Bust. One man’s big gay anniversary of coming out turns into a fundraiser extraordinaire for one of gay Atlanta’s favorite charities on one of gay Atlanta’s favorite patios (third photo) @ Joe’s on Juniper, 1 p.m.

Sunday DogDay Funday. You, your four-legged sidekick and your gay dog-loving friends drink on the patio with raffles and more to benefit Forgotten Paws Pet Rescue @ Ten, 3 p.m.

Sugarbaker 5.0 says happy 50th birthday to Armorettes acolyte and all-around good guy Jimmy Sugarbaker. And it says it for party and shot donations to the Armorettes PWA Fund and Lost N Found Youth. Wear your brightest “True Colors” @ Amsterdam, 4 p.m.

Sunset Soiree benefit Georgia Equality with headliner and “Hip-Hop activist” Ricky Simone on the mic with DJ Tina V as well as other LGBT performers for the cause. It’s 18 and up @ My Sister’s Room, 6 p.m.

Powerhouse Burlesque Show features local beauties and drag divas like Violet Chachki working the stage with special guest visitors Bettina May and Vita Devoid @ Red Light Café, 8 p.m.

High Energy & Cell Block Sunday. Get to gettin' with DJ Bill Berdeaux, 3 p.m., then the Cell Block drag show with Lateasha Shuntel, Raquell Lord,  Shawnna Brooks, Nicole Paige Brooks and Taejah Thomas @ Blake's, 8 p.m.

The Armorettes present the troupe’s weekly show on its continuing mission to bring campy bawdy drag and donated tips to the HIV/AIDS fight in Atlanta @ Burkhart’s, 8 p.m. Yep. They’re already rested and up to their shenanigans again.
