The best gay New Year’s Eve parties in Atlanta

We don’t play when it comes to playtime. Ever. That goes double for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day events. Here’s more LGBT NYE than you can handle, but you'll have fun trying.

Wednesday, Dec. 31

Party Like a Rock Star 9.0 (top photo). The annual blowout that dares other events to match its size and intensity goes down hard with DJ Cindel, Jell-O shots for Joining Hearts, and A-List VIP upgrades @ Jungle, 9 p.m. 18+ $25 general admission, $45 VIP. Buy tickets. It’s this epic. No really. Because guys like this.

Michelle Malone New Year’s Eve Bash. As she does most years, everybody’s favorite lesbian blues rocker serves up two NYE sets with guest act Hannah Thomas @ Eddie’s Attic, 7 p.m and 9:45 p.m.

Masquerade Ball. Charlie Brown hosts this dinner-and-a-drag show with his cast. Prix Fixe dinner, champagne toast, free masks and horns @ 7 p.m. $35 first seating, 10 p.m. $75 second seating. Reservations required.

“The Santaland Diaries” Final Performance. The annual stage shuffle through the mind and matters of writer David Sedaris’ gay department store elf closes its 16th year @ Horizon Theater, 8 p.m.

“Judy.” Natasha Drena serves Judy Garland Realness in this one-woman cabaret @ Serenbe Playhouse, 10:30 p.m. Afterparty dance to follow.

Genesis White Party with DJ Kidd Madonny. We love this international beat boy. Longtime. Because drop-dead hotness. Wear white and get some quality time on the specially transformed dance floor with special guests and surprises @ Heretic, 9 p.m. $15 VIP tickets include $5 for Atlanta Bucks Rugby Club.

Pennies From Heaven 2015. Blake’s serves up cute gay boys every night of the year, but another reason to stop here is the huge cash balloon drop with prizes that say, “Hey bitch, it’s a new year!” @ Blake’s on the Park, 9 p.m.

Glitter & Fur Party is the third annual party from Bedlam. DJ Shane V plus your look-is-in-the-name theme. Feathers and sequins always accepted [email protected] Everything But The Kitchen Sink Studios, 9 p.m. View last year’s photos  and the year before that.

Cock-A-Doodle Ball Drop. Your favorite Cheshire Bridge strippers dance on bar tops giving you sneak peeks all night. Treats for your worked-up self include drink specials and a champagne toast @ BJ Roosters, 8 p.m. No cover.

NYE 2015. You know what’s up. No cover. Party favors. Free Champagne. Get in and get got @ Burkhart’s, 9 p.m.

NYE Honey Pot with DJ Sean Mac. The honey will flow for the leather bears who get down @ Atlanta Eagle, 9 p.m.

Attack of the New Year’s Eve Party Monster lays out the annual free event for all the queers in East Atlanta with sensational DJs and stiff drinks @ Mary’s, 9 p.m. Free. They always make a scene.

Black Hollywood Paparazzi Party throws down beats by DJ Jay Marz with a red carpet vibe @ Club 708, 10 p.m.

Red Carpet Affair. “Sisterhood of Hip Hop’s” Renaye Diaz hosts this women’s party with dancing before a champagne toast and complimentary breakfast @ Suede, 10 p.m.

New Year’s Eve Bash includes free entry, champagne at midnight, DJ Club Soda’s beats, a cash balloon drop and more. Party includes the Swank gals @ 10th & Piedmont, 10 p.m. Free.

New Year’s Eve Ball. Come early to ring in 2015 and stay for the champagne toast and balloon drop @ Ten, 10 p.m.

DJ Rapko and Breakfast Buffet. The lesbians of East Atlanta know how to do it right. The Q100 spinner is in the booth, and food comes after the midnight champagne toast @ My Sister’s Room, 8 p.m.They really know how to party.

All-Nude NYE Bash. Open bar all night, free 15-minute VIP rooms, champagne, giveaways and all the Richards you can handle @ Swinging Richards, 9 p.m.

Legendary Traxx New Year’s Eve includes DJ Super Blue and a midnight toast @ Bulldogs, 9 p.m.

Gift Bags & Champagne. Be one of the first 100 guests and see what’s in the bag, drink free champagne and midnight and mix it up @ Hideaway, 9 p.m.

LeBuzz Closing Night Farewell. The end of the year is the end of an era for the gay bar catering to the OTP crowd. Divas Cabaret and dancing are on tap before last call on the last night @ LeBuzz, Marietta, 9 p.m. Yes, girl. They are closing for good.

Thursday, Jan. 1

DJ Alex Cohen All Nighter. Don’t go to bed. This party moves you all the way to sunrise, just steps away from BJs, Heretic and Jungle. Never stop shaking your ass @ Xion, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m. $25

New Year’s Morning Party. Party people who just can’t stop can dance across the parking lot for DJ Eddie Elias @ Heretic, 6:30 a.m. – 12 noon. $20

Divas Afterparty Show. More cocktails and food are just what the doctor ordered. Do it with the queens @ Lips Cabaret, 6:30 p.m. $15 food and/or drink minimum.

Bloody Mary Brunch. What you need is an entire Bloody Mary bar and some food. Belly up to the buffet @ Hideaway, 12 noon.

LGBTQQIA Kwanzaa Celebration 2015. Bring a dish to share with the sisters of ZAMI NOBLA, Unity Fellowship, SONG, SNAPCO, Lambda Legal and more. All are welcome @ Rush Center, 1 p.m. 

Your favorite gay bars are open and pouring their regular weekday hours. So if you got a nap and want to hit it again, head out for brunch and /or a hair-of-the-dog cocktail.
