The second local mixer in the national Thank GLAAD It’s Friday event series created a fitting sequel to October’s gathering of Atlanta’s LGBT professionals hosted by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
The good word about Atlanta’s October GLAAD mixer (view photos) apparently spread, because the crowd (top photo) was even larger for the Nov. 19 incarnation. Like last month, local event coordinator Elliott Elsner (bottom photo, center) welcomed guests to the event at the W Atlanta Midtown Hotel with happy hour cocktails and after-work networking.
While guests mingled and noshed, prize drawings included gay-positive and gay-popular CDs and DVDs and one-year memberships to GLAAD.
Most of all, the evening was an opportunity to get to know the mission of GLAAD, a national organization that keeps an eye on representations, commentary and coverage of LGBT people and issues in mainstream media.
Sadly, if you missed it, the annual fall Friday events are gone for 2010, but the group’s work in Atlanta and across the country continues. Stay tuned to Project Q Atlanta’s events calendar for other GLAAD-sponsored events in the new year and all the local LGBT events we can muster every day.
