Take Over Atlanta finds cozy (and warm) Aurum

imageSnow, ice and even temperatures plunging into the teens couldn’t keep the gay boys away on Friday, when they packed Aurum Lounge in Midtown for an evening of cocktails and conversation.

The cozy lounge on 8th Street, part of the über-gay Metropolis condo towers, made for a posh stop for Take Over Atlanta. Aurum’s smoke-free setting didn’t hurt, either.

imageThe monthly gatherings — organized by friends Adam Ellis, Ryan Hughes (middle photo, left, with Ellis) and Ken Folds — are informal excursions to popular Atlanta nightspots. The venues aren’t specifically gay — hence, the Take Over Atlanta name — but provide the atmosphere that urban gays often seek out and enjoy.
