State senator wants strip club surcharge

You’ll be ponying up an extra $5 to step into Swinging Richards if Jack Murphy has his way.

The state senator, a Republican from Cummings, wants to charge strip club patrons $5 to go inside a club. He wants the money to help pay for services for sexually exploited children.

He plans to hold a press conference today with Sen. Renee Unterman (R-Buford) to discuss the problem of child sexual abuse in Atlanta.

Unterman also plans to introduce legislation that would raise the age of strip club dancers, bartenders and waitresses to 21.

The last time we checked, only adults were being exploited inside Swinging Richards. And that was mostly at the door when we paid the already-too-high cover charge.
