Sonique wows crowds in Burkhart’s Divas return

The prodigal queen returned to Atlanta, and her local gay fans were waiting. Crowds poured into Burkhart’s on Thursday and Friday to welcome back former Atlantan and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Sonique to her old stomping grounds.

It’s been a long three years since Atlanta hearts dropped as RuPaul asked Sonique (top photo) to “sashay away” in a difficult decision during “RPDR 2” and were lifted again when she bravely came out as transgender in the reunion episode.

But time hasn't tarnished the local love for Sonique. The cheers, whoops and dollar bills flowed for the much-missed queen during Thursday’s Dancefloor Divas hosted by fellow “RuPaul” alum Phoenix. Sonique’s triumphant return continued Friday when she joined Burkhart’s weekly Fab Five cast.
