Gay Houston softball jocks turned out in large numbers for a skills session on Sunday during Recruitment Day as the Montrose Softball League readies for the start of a new season.
The event at the Houston Sportsplex allowed the league's coaches to evaluate dozens of rookies looking to find a home in the league before Opening Day on March 22. Besides the on-the-field workout, the softball jocks also downed cocktails and cupcakes.
The league is among 12 beneficiaries that will receive $1,000 in 2015 from Charles Armstrong Investments, the company that operates JR’s, Mining Company, South Beach and Meteor. Last season, 10 MSL teams competed in the Gay Softball World Series, though just one – Houston Divers – placed among the finalists.
