Well, he is. But compared to others in the latest round of voting in the continuing “King of the Hardwood” competition, he’s got nothing on Cristiano Ronaldo, Frederik Ljungberg and Adrian Mutu, to name a few.
“Hardwood” has turned to soccer studs for Round 7, with the final preliminary round (rugby) to open later this week. Currently, Ronaldo leads the vote in this round with Michael Owen and Lukas Podolski following close behind. There are 20 soccer players from across the globe offered up. Vote for your favorites and help send eight of them to the finals, which will be announced March 16.
“Hardwood” works like this: Groups of jocks are pre-selected by Layne, the competition’s organizer, from eight areas – swimming and diving, track and field, hockey and Australian football, tennis, baseball, soccer, pro football and rugby. Every few days, there’s a new qualifying round. Vote for your favorites, check the running vote tallies on his blog and look for the final round of 64 to be announced to coincide with the selections for the NCAA basketball tournament.
Round 7 favorites for me include Ronaldo (top photo), Beckham (middle) and Ljungberg (bottom).
