imageNET CRASHES: The Hotlanta Volleyball Association offers its one-day Spring Smackdown at the Woodruff Physical Education Center at Emory. 8:30 a.m.

OUTLANTACON: The gay gaming and sci-fi geekvent continues its weekend convention. On tap for OutlantaCon is an aggressive and full schedule of panels, gaming and film screenings. Events continue all day at the Holiday Inn on Clearview Avenue in Doraville.

PURPLE DRESS: The Atlanta Bucks Rugby Football Club steps into their dresses for their annual fundraiser, the Purple Dress Run. The bar crawl starts at Blake’s and raises funds for the gay rugby league and YouthPride. 1 p.m.

HOME GAME: The Atlanta Xplosion (3-0) faces the Dallas Diamonds during its third home game of the season at Hallford Stadium in DeKalb County. The women’s full contact football team has rolled to two impressive wins to open the season. 6 p.m. (View photos from the Xplosion home opener.)

GALA: The 22nd Annual Atlanta HRC Gala Dinner & Silent Auction unfolds at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta downtown. Actress Cybil Shepherd is scheduled to appear. The evening also includes a silent auction with more than $225,000 in donated items up for grabs, a meal, speeches and awards. Registration opens at 5 p.m.

DANCE CLUB: DJ Oren Nizri (photo) from Miami spins tonight at the Jungle. 10 p.m.
