Rugby rocks ‘Hardwood’ Round 8

cooper_cronk_blog.jpgcohen_ben_blog.jpgThe last – and quite possibly the best – round of the “King of the Hardwood” competition is ready for viewing and voting. Round 8 is a collection of 20 rugby players from across the globe, providing a sexy close to the preliminary rounds of the tournament.

What happens next: “Hardwood” organizer Layne tallies up the votes from the eight rounds, pulls the top eight in each category – swimming and diving, track and field, hockey and cooper_matt_blog.jpgAustralian football, tennis, baseball, soccer, pro football and rugby – and offers them up on Sunday for the finals. That’s when you get to vote again, this last time to select the overall winner of the competition, which opened in mid February.

The top vote-getter joins past winners Sean Lamont (2007), a Scottish rugby player, Brad Ausmus of the Houston Astros (2006) and two-time champion Jeremy Bloom of the Pittsburgh Steelers (2003, 2005).

My favorites for Round 8 include Ben Cohen, the gay friendly rugby player from across the pond (top right), and Australian players Matt Cooper (bottom right) and Cooper Cronk (top left).
