Roxx recovers from failed health score with 90

Welcome back to the 90s, Roxx. It’s been more than 18 months since you’ve been there, but the popular gay-friendly tavern on Cheshire Bridge has wiped clean – literally – it’s brush with a failing health score.

Now, they’ve notched a 90 on a re-inspection that took place on Monday, the highest score Roxx has received since a 95 in February 2012. Meaning that as the restaurant prepares to offer the gays a special Thanksgiving Day place to dine, it has put behind them a troubled summer that included a failing health score and some report shenanigans that had it swapping a near-failing score with an old passing one.

The new inspection only dinged Roxx for a few labeling issues and a wiping cloth that wasn’t properly stored. That’s a vast improvement from July 9 when the restaurant failed its health inspection and barely scraped by with a passing 72 on a re-inspection a week later.

At the time, owner Dean Chronopoulos told us that the violations were being addressed and an upcoming re-inspection would show that. On Tuesday, he said the Fulton health agency charged with conducting the health inspections has cuts its staff, so Roxx had to wait until this week to get confirmation that their cleanup efforts did the trick. And they did.

“We are very pleased to have received our ‘A’ Grade on our recent health score,” Chronopoulos said. “We implemented long-term solutions to correct the cosmetic issues mentioned in the last report. For example, the few cracked kitchen tiles were replaced and the entire kitchen re-grouted. The dim kitchen light prompted us to replace the entire lighting system in the kitchen. Any superficially dented freezers were replaced with new ones.”

“At Roxx, we continuously want to be the best and welcome the opportunities to improve. Roxx will always strive to be your Favorite & Best Restaurant In Atlanta,” he added.

Now, the restaurant’s fan base of bears who brunch, porn stars who do threeways and all the other gays who dine there as a warm-up to a night on the strip of cocktailing and more can gobble down some turkey knowing that health inspectors give it their stamp of approval.

Yes, girl. They are serving up a three-course turkey dinner on Thanksgiving from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
