DJ Roland Belmares brought his popular beats back to Atlanta on Saturday, helping to fill Jungle for a night of his special remixes, discography and shirtless fans.
The Texas-born, Los Angeles-living Belmares (second photo) is no stranger to Atlanta, having served as the headliner for the annual Joining Hearts pool party in Piedmont Park for several years. He crossed the continent to work the Heretic a handful of times since late last year and isn’t afraid of a long night – Belmares pulled double duty during an Atlanta stop in 2009.
Did you miss Belmares on Saturday? Despite a packed house and a line to get in the door around midnight Saturday, there might have been a few nightlife lovers who didn’t make it. Rest assured, party-goers, as Belmares returns in November for the popular – dare we say infamous? – Thanksgiving Eve celebration at Heretic.
Belmares’ appearance on Saturday was just one in a string of big nights for Jungle. Gay rapper Cazwell – you know, the white guy with the sexy “Ice Cream Truck” video who spotted Beyoncé at Burger King – drew a crowd earlier this month. A week before that, on Sept. 8, the venue hosted transgender model and artist Amanda Lepore.
