How can you improve one of the most popular New Year’s Eve events on Atlanta’s gay party circuit? Make it a benefit, too.

The small group of friends that launched Party Like A Rockstar a few years back returned with a purpose on Saturday, delivering New Year’s Eve 6.0 to a packed Amsterdam. And the event, complete with DJ Jay McCracken and its own dance floor, benefited Joining Hearts. Those $2 cover charges and Jell-O shooters added up — organizers say they raised more than $4,200.

Will Rockstar return again for the Fourth of July, like it did last year? Let’s hope so.
