Ready 4 Hope kicked off its fundraising season on Saturday, serving up barbecue, hairy buns and more during its annual Bear-B-Q- at Heretic.

Organizers are still counting the cash that was raised during the fourth annual event, but say it's approaching $15,000. The group raises money each year for AIDS Walk Atlanta, which benefits HIV agencies.

Ruby Redd emceed while DJ Seth Breezy provided beats for Bear-B-Q, which stretched outside Heretic's dance floor to a covered parking lot playground. The event was part of Atlanta Bear Pride, a weekend of parties, brunch and more in gay Atlanta. And the afternoon included Best Beard and Best Furry Butt contests, along with a surprise marriage proposal. (He said yes.)

Bear-B-Q warms up the party-goers – as it's done in 2015, 2014 and its inaugural 2013 – before delivering a jam-packed weekend of events in September.
