The grassroots queer fest MondoHomo kicked off five days of DJs, drag, burlesque, politics, slam poetry, theater, dance parties and musical acts on Thursday with a visual arts show and spoken word performances at Eyedrum.
The festivities, which also included a Queer Dance Party at Mary’s, carry through the long holiday weekend, ending on Monday with a Homo Day Camp at Cabbagetown Park. Most other events take place at Eyedrum, a cavernous gallery near Oakland Cemetery.
“We’re really excited,” MondoHomo founder Kiki Carr (second photo, left) told Project Q Atlanta ahead of opening night. “We’ve really tried to make it even more diverse, and I think we’ve succeeded in that even more this year.”
