Indigo Girls top Concerts in the Garden series

imageSummer revelers know that smooth grooves and the luscious lawn at Atlanta Botanical Garden make for a great, relaxing and memorable evening. Now gay fans of the annual Concerts in the Garden series have something more to cheer about: The 2011series will include two nights with Indigo Girls among its newly released slate of events.

As Atlanta’s own undisputed lesbian musical heroes, Indigo Girls (photo) take to the Great Lawn on July 8 and 9, and the legendary Emmy Lou Harris is on the roster later that month. Gay buzzster Rich Eldredge gave readers of his Fresh Intel column in Atlanta Magazine a sneak peek of the 2011 schedule on Monday:

The 2011 season kicks off Friday, June 3 with blues boy Jonny Lang with special guest Moreland & Arbuckle (Lang had to postpone his 2010 appearance when his wife was giving birth).

Indigo Girls will appear on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9 with special guests The Shadowboxers.

Steve Earle and the Duke and Duchesses featuring Allison Moorer will appear Friday, July 15, Emmylou Harris will perform on Friday, July 22, and Los Lobos will close out the series on Friday, August 26.

If you’re a member of Atlanta Botanical Garden, you can start buying tickets online this Friday, April 22. The rest of you can start snapping up tickets on May 6.
