Atlanta lesbian author turns into Hurricane Irene chaser

imageAll you Atlanta lesbians hungry for a piece of gay foodie and journalist Kim Severson on Thursday will have to wait. She’s been swept off her feet by another lady: Hurricane Irene.

Severson (photo) was scheduled to appear at Charis Books & More on Thursday to read from and discuss “Spoon Fed,” which provides a candid look at her recovery with a little help from some well-known friends. But Severson tweeted Thursday that duty calls – she’s the Atlanta bureau chief for the New York Times and being dispatched to chase Irene into North Carolina.

That’s one Sapphic showdown we’d like to see. Severson, after all, has tackled big tasks before, like Chick-fil-A’s Jesus chicken. She says always bet on the hurricane, though our bets are on her. Does lesbian flannel hold up well in heavy rain and hurricane gusts?

Severson is encouraging her fans to visit Charis and buy some stuff. That’s easy – the feminist retail outlet hosts its Staying in Business Sale! on Saturday that offers 10 percent off everything in the store—but 20 percent if you purchase something between now and then.
