Q sets sights on Memorial Weekend in queer Atlanta

Some queer issues and people are like Teflon to the friction of varying LGBTQ infighting, tastes and judgments. Q is proud to land smoothly at the holigay weekend with several of them as part of this week’s coverage.

Needing the time off is near universal, so to take advantage of the long weekend, this issue includes not only the Queer Agenda calendar of local events but also a feature outlining the queerest Memorial Weekend road trips across the Southeast.

Another thing upon which we can all agree is that codified institutional discrimination is wrong. New Q Voices columnist Bentley Hudgins discusses why the cases being weighed now by the U.S. Supreme Court are a tipping point for all of us.

Queers that everybody seems to like are also inside this Q. On the Cover, out and proud Atlanta Dream small forward Angel McCoughtry offers us yet another reason to love her: Ice cream. Our interview and photo essay meets her at her Castleberry Hill sweet shop as her WNBA team tips its home opener this weekend.

While you’re perusing pages, of course we offer our signature Q Shots photos, 10 Queer Things feature, and the latest installment of our weekly advice column The Q. All three are bursting with fruit flavor.

Like what you see? There’s always more on each day here at Project Q Atlanta, and you can reach me to talk about any of it at [email protected]. Read the full issue online here:
