Q mag’s summer preview issue is coming in hot

What makes summer, well, summer? Concerts? Poolside downtime? Stonewall specials? From performances and people to pools, Pride and parties, this issue of Q heats up the LGBTQ-ATL.

The jam-packed schedule of queer events for this weekend alone might overwhelm the uninitiated, but locals can handle a deep dive into all of the best bets through Labor Day in our summer events preview cover story. Looking out for you overachievers, 10 Queer Things offers advice to those who might be a little overcome with the heat, humidity and crush of options that summer brings to Atlanta.

Speaking of bringing it to Atlanta, queer comedy veteran Scott Thompson makes a triumphant return to his uber-gayThe Kids in the Hall roots at City Winery on Thursday. Our interview covers his Buddy Cole Monologues, and how the iconic character is ripe for the current-day queer femme resistance.

Local comic Ian Aber was so inspired by his talk with Thompson, he mined his own thoughts for this week’s Q Voices column on visibility. The Q digs into people's tendency to compare themselves to others' social media highlights. Q Shots captures shenanigans around town, and our Community feature meets this year’s Atlanta Pride parade grand marshals.
