Q channels MLK legacy and helps you rock the holiday weekend

With so many options for our coverage on any given week, it's a balancing act sometimes at Q, but we take example from people like the Stars of the Century cast. What some call the best-produced drag show in town wields all their power with swagger in our cover story by Patrick Saunders and accompanying photo essay by James L. Hicks.

The feature’s chosen theme of 1960s Civil Rights March Realness pairs perfectly with another big deal in Atlanta: MLK Weekend. The holiday that traces its historic roots here can also point to a packed slate of LGBTQ special events that celebrate the civil rights icon with both reverence and revelry.

And speaking of balancing queer stuff with mainstream issues, check out this week’s 10 Queer Things. In it, we offer 10 actions that every person of every race can do every day to chip away at queer challenges.

MLK in the ATL isn’t the only LGBTQ inspiration for events this week. Q Shots photos show off recent events, and the Queer Agenda calendar lays out upcoming options to put on your schedule.

The Q advice column wraps this edition with a strong desire to cancel queer cancel-culture, and our online siblings at Project Q Atlanta want to keep you informed and inspired with fresh Q News and Q Community stories updated every single day at theQatl.com.

Reach out if you need me at [email protected], and in the meantime, we’ll be weighing and balancing our next roster of content to hit stands next week.
