Two days of verbal arguments and physical altercations ended on Monday afternoon with the 22-year-old girlfriend of a gay Atlanta woman shooting and killing her partner in an apartment on Boulevard, police said.
Laura Bozeman, 22, (photo) was arrested after the shooting and charged with murdering her girlfriend, 22-year-old Ashley Belle, in a unit at Auburn Glenn Apartments near the intersection of Boulevard and Edgewood Avenue. Bozeman is charged with murder and remains in the Fulton County Jail.
Atlanta police said the shooting took place about 3:30 p.m. on Monday after a confrontation turned violent inside the apartment.
“The preliminary on-scene investigation revealed that the victim and perpetrator are domestic partners and that they had been in verbal and physical altercations for the past two days,” according to a police incident report. “The crime scene was consistent with a physical altercation having occurred there.”
Police found a weapon at the apartment, WSB reported, and Bozeman remained at the crime scene and later talked with investigators. She then “provided incriminating statements” to police about her role in Belle's death, according to the incident report.
