It's been a tough few weeks for Piedmont Park and the massive greenspace is showing its wear and tear just three days ahead of tens of thousands of people stomping all over it for Atlanta Pride.
Some 50,000 Music Midtown fans and heavy downpours left large swaths of the park a big muddy mess. Now, as Atlanta Pride organizers set up for this weekend's event, it's evident the damaged park will impact the festival. How was becoming more clear during a walk-through of the park on Wednesday.
Portions of the Meadow where Pride erects its main stage remain closed.
Other spots are rubbed raw.
Marketplace tents are in place ...
... But silt fencing dramatically narrows a corridor that will soon overflow with people.
New sod is still being installed near the Marketplace.
Some areas of the Meadow usually full of day campers remain closed.
Even some asphalt has had enough.
At least the beer coolers are ready to be filled.
And so are these.
