More than 100 guests enjoyed food, cocktails and a lavish raffle in the lush backyard of a private Grant Park home on Saturday for PFLAG Atlanta’s annual Out In The Garden fundraiser.
True to its acronym, PFLAG indeed hosted parents, family, friends, lesbians and gays. The expansive outdoor space (top photo)—complete with a rooster and bunnies—proved perfect for the garden theme.
Guests enjoyed a tiki bar and meandered through grounds with a multi-tier deck, bridge and walkways through plantings in every conceivable square inch of the yard.
Saturday’s event was also time for the organization to celebrate another special event: the 35th anniversary of partners Bob and Dave (second photo, left, with the party’s hosts). Their big day was feted with a cake in their honor.
For more than 25 years, the Atlanta chapter of PFLAG has helped families understand and embrace their LGBT children, educate the public on LGBT issues and advocate for equality.
The party hosts were presented with gifts for their garden after a presentation touting the group’s successes and hopes for the future. Proceeds from Saturday’s event benefited PFLAG programs including its Speakers’ Bureau, Safe Schools and Straight for Equality.
The group meets on the first Monday and third Sunday of each month and holds special support meetings and events throughout the year.
