Oversized checks match big Joining Hearts love

If it seems like a long year of fundraising beer busts, theme parties and other bashes toward gay Atlanta’s largest charity pool party, you’re right. But it all came together at Sunday’s check presentation party.

When they’re not making us sweat and cooling us off, Joining Hearts is reminding us that parties are good. Make it with a purpose, and they are even more fun. Add cocktails, appetizers, DJ Sean Mac and hobnobbing with do-gooders? Even better. And when the purpose is big money for Jerusalem House and AID Atlanta, everyone can get on board.

The $190,000 split between the two beneficiaries at Sunday’s fancy schmancy cocktail gathering at Steel brings the total funds raised by Joining Hearts to $1,779,500 since its inception 26 years ago. The annual total has been bested only once, by last year’s record-breaking $250,000 donation.

Can’t imagine a gay Atlanta without a JH party to attend? Don’t worry. Fundraising for next year, Joining Hearts 26, starts in a few weeks and continues into the holidays. That’s even before the official 2014 fundraising season kicks off for V-Day.

Until then and after enjoying these shots of Sunday’s love fest, stay sated with memories of this year’s main event. Here’s exactly how hot and sexy it got.
