Women’s Outdoor Network, Atlanta’s busy activity group for lesbians who like fresh air and don’t mind a little sweat, stepped indoors at Midtown’s lesbian lounge on Friday to celebrate summer.
For the group that offers several outings a month from golf to river rafting and rock climbing and hikes to nature walks, the night at Bellissima was a change of pace but not a change of attitude – friendly vibes and good times are always in order for the WON ladies.
Members and guests took advantage of the air-conditioned lounge to pay homage to summer with the requisite dancing, conversation, cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres. The two-hour evening party ended early, but most stuck around for Bellisima’s Friday slate of Sapphic soiree.
If you’re not familiar with WON but would like to be, they’re an organized bunch with something to do pretty much every weekend for women of all skill levels. Members can even think up and post their own outings and invite the whole gang to join.
The next big outing for the group is the July 9 Tube the ‘Hooch trip down the Chattahoochie. Beating the heat with non-strenuous outings as well, Cocktails & Canvas on July 9 offers painting at Creatively Yours, and Martinis & Imax goes down on July 15 at the Fernbank museum.
