Mix a Friday evening in Midtown with cocktails and more often than not, you’ve got a receipe for success.
That’s the approach of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, the gay media watchdog that held the second in its series of social networking events in Atlanta on March 13. The evening—“Thank GLAAD It’s Friday—is part of a nationwide series for the group, which helps promote fair and inclusive portrayals of LGBT people and events in the media. GLAAD held a similar event in Atlanta last month.
The $35 ticket price for the evening at Bazzaar Urban Bar included a one-year membership to GLAAD, two hours of free cocktails, door prizes and plenty of social networking. So many free Absolut cocktails, in fact, that the bar ran out of the liquor before it ran out of drink requests. Natch.
