YOUNG WRITERS: Charis Books & More offers its Young Women Writers group for those ages 14 to 19. Participants are encouraged to raise their voices and express themselves through a variety of written mediums through facilitated writing prompts and supportive critiques. 5 p.m.

WHACK IT: Those sporty lesbians of the Decatur Women’s Sports League are at it again tonight. This time they are grabbing their paddles for badminton. Catch the action at the Decatur Recreation Center. 7:30 p.m.

imageHISTORICAL EXPOSE: Wall Street Journal reporter Douglas Blackmon (photo) stop at Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse to read from and discuss his newest work, “Slavery by Another Name.” Blackmon’s groundbreaking historical expose is based on a vast record of original documents and personal narratives, unearthing the lost stories of slaves and their descendants who journeyed into freedom after the Emancipation Proclamation and then back into the shadow of involuntary servitude. 7:30 p.m.
