Memorial Day bromances with the Braves

The Atlanta Braves hit the field today at 1 p.m., looking to celebrate Memorial Day with a win that would even their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What better way to mark the holiday than reflecting on some tender moments in two Braves bromances?

The newest one to surface is also the one about to hit the rocks now that backup catcher Brayan Pena was designated to assignment on Friday, a move likely to end his eight-year stint with the Braves.

It also will mean a long-distance bromance between Pena and shortstop Yunel Escobar (right photo):

Pena was widely popular in the clubhouse. Shortstop Yunel Escobar, his close friend since their childhood in Havana, appeared deeply saddened by the news, staring straight into his locker for an extended period after talking to Pena.

Escobar just shook his head to a reporter when asked about losing Pena.

The other bromance, between Jeff Francoeur and Brian McCann, added another sweet moment to a long list of tender touches when the two – along with most of the Braves roster – celebrated after Frenchy’s walk-off home run on Saturday. Watch the video here.
