Veteran morning radio host Melissa Carter – Atlanta’s first and likely only openly gay radio jock – is again off the air, being pulled from the B98.5 morning show.

Via the AJC:

After three and a half years, Melissa Carter is off the air on B98.5’s morning show.

The morning host veteran has nearly six months left on her current contract. Norm Schrutt, her agent, said Carter wanted to give the adult pop station time to find a replacement while staying on air but the station decided otherwise. Carter will remain employed with the station through August but it’s unclear if she will have any active role.

Carter declined to comment on what happened. The Twitter celebrity also has not made mention of her departure on social media.

In 2011, Carter left radio after 10 years on Q100’s “The Bert Show” with this: “I quit this bitch.”

But not for long. In 2012, she joined news radio 106.7 and moved to her current gig at B98.5 in the summer of 2013. Along with those stints, she’s penned a column for Georgia Voice, emceed one big gay awards event after another, judged hunky jocks and rubbed elbows with President Obama.
